Filing Options for Tanaina Residents

The eSR system is a free online petition preparation and filing tool built for people who file without an attorney. Find it at the court's eSR page. It works around the clock and saves your data between sessions. You'll need a valid email address, Adobe Reader, and a printer. Do not let the session sit idle for more than 45 days or your data will expire. Once you complete the petition, you submit it directly through the portal.

You can also file by mail. Send the signed petition with a money order or cashier's check to the Anchorage court address. Never send cash. Faxed or scanned signatures are not accepted on most documents. Original wet signatures are required.

Chapter 7 filing fee is $338. Chapter 13 is $313. Use Official Form 103A to request installment payments. Chapter 7 filers with income below 150 percent of federal poverty guidelines may apply for a full fee waiver using Official Form 103B.

Before filing, you must complete a credit counseling course within 180 days. Use an agency approved by the U.S. Trustee. The list is at justice.gov. After discharge, a debtor education course is also required. Both courses run one to two hours each and are available online.
